What does LOGEX do in the field of financial analytics?
Mission of LOGEX: We turn data into better healthcare.
Specifically, within Financial Analytics, what we do is support healthcare institutions in their operational and strategic decision-making. We focus on giving them the right financial tools and services to help them manage things like production, costs, capacity, and resources effectively.
LOGEX helps healthcare providers so they can run financially sound operations. We provide insights that help them understand financial flows and patient volumes but also compare their performance with similar organisations. This way, they can plan better and ensure they’re delivering the best care possible.
Our roots lie in supporting medical specialists in the Netherlands, but over time we have grown to support hospitals, mental healthcare, and long-term care across Europe.
What does that look like?
For instance, if we look at our costing model, we have worked with multiple hospitals to help them gain a deep understanding of their overall cost structures. We provide them with a structured approach to build towards costs on care-production level. This is useful for controllers to identify opportunities for cost optimisation. For instance, by breaking down the cost structures within different departments and clinical settings, we provide insights to hospital controllers on cost drivers and opportunities to steer. By also augmenting this with benchmark cost data, controllers have a quick way of identifying opportunities for cost improvements.
Another example focuses on providing medical specialists with benchmarking insights regarding the care they provide compared to others. By offering data on their resource utilisation, the care pathways they choose and compare those with peers, specialists can identify potential efficiencies and optimal practices within their hospitals. This not only helps in streamlining operations but also enables them to monitor and implement desired practice variations, ultimately the impact that they can make with their available capacity.
How is it for you to work in this field?
I have a business background, so I look at healthcare from a different angle. We all know that resources are scarce and the demand for care is rising. So I see the challenge and puzzle in optimising healthcare resources, and I am happy that we are able to support healthcare institutions.
Additionally, what I enjoy is working with variety of different backgrounds but all of whom are passionate about making an impact in healthcare. We have people ranging from medical and technical medicine backgrounds to data scientists and econometricians. Together with insights from our customers, it gives me inspiration for new services that we can deliver to customers on a frequent basis.
